Our team at energysavings.com has been capturing daily snapshots of the energy plans offered on the Power to Choose site and has put together the following information regarding the energy plans offered during the month of December 2020 for the AEP Central delivery area. Please click here for a map that shows the location of the transmission and distribution utilities in competitive areas. Please note that as rates may change at any time in the day on the Power to Choose site, the following analysis is only based on information captured in our snapshots each month.

Market trend: The rates captured in December 2020 were stable in AEP Central area for the plans shown in this report.

Energy Monger had the lowest rate for the 12-month fixed-rate plan. The plan is called “12 Month E-Pay / E-Bill (Web Only)” and the name self-explain the product’s conditions: pre-authorized payments and paperless billing enrollment.

Ambit Energy had the highest rate with the “Lone Star Classic 12”. This plan’s special terms listed on the Power to Choose website state that: “A monthly E-Plan credit is available for this product by successfully enrolling in Ambit Energy’s Paperless Billing and Automatic Payment programs when you sign up for new service.”

Concerning this type of plan, Gexa Energy and Frontier Utilities were offering the lowest rate for this month.

“Gexa Choice Green 12” is the plan that Gexa Energy was offering to new customers only who enroll through the Power to Choose site. This REP has a rating of 4.4 on Google reviews for 3670 reviews. “Eco Green 12” was the plan offered by Frontier Utilities. Those two plans are similar and apply the same early termination fee. That fee applies if you want to terminate your service prior to the end of the contract term.

Energy to Go is the REP that has the highest rate. The plan that was showing this rate is called “Green To Go 12” and has a $4.95 flat fee per billing cycle.

The highest rate of this category was offered by Iberdrola Texas with the plan named “Wind by TX 24.” This offer is available for new customers only. This product is 100% derived from Texas Wind facilities.

Concerning 100% green variable rate plansInfuse Energy offered a plan named “Keep It Simple Savings Green Flex“ for new customers during December 2020. This plan had the cheapest rate in this category.

Ambit Energy offered a plan named “Ambit Green Texas Flex,” and it had the highest rate during that period for this type of plan.
