1Trends show the percentage change in the rate from the previous month for the same category of products. This table compares the lowest price offered by each REP that offered the respective type of plan in each month. The “Highest” row above shows the highest price among all the lowest price plans offered by REPs offering that type of plan in this region for each month.
First, in the AEP North delivery area, DIRECT ENERGY, SOUTHERN FEDERAL POWER LLC and RANCHERO POWER are no longer showing plans in the first product category, which explains the -11% change in the number of REPs in the table above. Those electric providers are still on the Power to Choose website but executing a different strategy as they are showing different kinds of plans, including some that vary by contract length and rate type.
Second, looking at the trends, the market was pretty stable in this delivery area as well. We only captured a 2% increase in the average rate in the first category, explained by a few providers slightly increasing their rates in November. In the variable rate category, the lowest rate decreased by 1%, explained by INFUSE ENERGY LLC slightly decreasing their rates (from 12.2 to 11.2 cents/kWh for a 1000kWh monthly usage.) But globally, the average rate increased by 1% in this category as some REPs increased their prices slightly in November.

This table compares the lowest price offered by each REP that offered the respective type of plan in each month. The “Highest” row above shows the highest price among all the lowest price plans offered by REPs offering that type of plan in this region for each month.
First, let’s compare the number of electricity providers showing offers. Similar to our observations in all the other delivery areas this month, BRANCH ENERGY is showing offers for the first time on the Power to Choose website in the 100% green, fixed-rate 12-month category – welcome BRANCH ENERGY! Their plan is a 100% green fixed-rate, 12-month contract requiring e-billing, auto-payment and a $120 early termination fee. Interestingly, ENERGY TEXAS is not showing offers in this delivery area in these two 100 % green categories; nor is it in the AEP Central delivery area. CHARIOT ENERGY also left the game here as they are not showing plans anymore in November in the second category. This explains the +14% and -25% in the number of REPs offering plans in the two categories in the table above.
Then, looking at the trend between October and November, we did not capture big variations in this delivery area. The lowest rates decreased by 1% and by 8%, respectively, for each category. The average rate increased by 1% for the 100% green fixed rate category while it decreased by 2% for the 100% green variable rate one.

* Data obtained from powertochoose.org (Power to Choose) for the days from 11/1/2021 to 11/30/2021. The tables above list the lowest price in cents/kWh offered by each retail electricity provider (REP) for a given type of plan for a monthly usage of 1000 kWh. If more than one product was available from the same REP for a given type of plan, EnergySavings.com only included the one with the lowest rate in its analysis. Please reach out to [email protected] if you feel that any meaningful data has not been captured and EnergySavings.com may, at its sole discretion, issue a correction to the report. The analysis is performed by excluding plans that are marked as “Minimum usage fees/credits”, “Time of Use”, and “Prepaid” according to the data captured from Power to Choose. For more information about the electricity plans mentioned in this report, please consult both the Electricity Fact Label (EFL) and Terms of Service (TOS) for those plans. Those documents are available on the Power to Choose site if the plan is still currently offered. The rates listed may differ if the REP has changed its pricing.
