First, let’s look at the providers. The first category gained two new providers: ENERGY TEXAS and BRANCH ENERGY. The latter REP started to show offers in all the delivery areas and was certified recently this year by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) while the former REP was certified in 2020. This explains the +22% in the number of Retail Energy Providers (REPs) in the table above. In the second plan category, while the number of providers was steady, we captured that CHARIOT ENERGY is no longer offering plans in this product category but ENERGY TEXAS entered the game offering 100% green products only.

Second, looking at the rate variations in the first plan category, the lowest rate decreased by 9% and the average rate decreased by 2%. In the second plan category, the lowest rate also decreased (-4%), the highest one did not change, and the average decreased by 4%.

Please reach out to [email protected] if you feel that any meaningful data has not been captured and EnergySavings.com may, at its sole discretion, issue a correction to the report. The analysis is performed by excluding plans that are marked as “Minimum usage fees/credits”, “Time of Use”, and “Prepaid” according to the data captured from Power to Choose. For more information about the electricity plans mentioned in this report, please consult both the Electricity Fact Label (EFL) and Terms of Service (TOS) for those plans. Those documents are available on the Power to Choose site if the plan is still currently offered. The rates listed may differ if the REP has changed its pricing.
