In the Oncor delivery area, we also captured that 3 REPs (Retail Energy Providers) stopped showing offers in the first category: DIRECT ENERGY, SOUTHERN FEDERAL POWER LLC and RANCHERO POWER. They are all still showing electricity plans on the Power to Choose website but for other kinds of products.

Regarding trends, in the first category (fixed-rate, 12-month plans) the market trend was pretty stable between October and November as we only captured a 2% increase for the average rate. Looking at the second product category in the table above, we observed the same trend as it is only showing a +1% for the average rate.

Concerning the 100% green products in November 2021 as compared to October 2021, we captured that similar to the other delivery areas, BRANCH ENERGY and ENERGY TEXAS are now showing offers on the Power to Choose website for the 100% green products in the  fixed-rate, 12-month category. They are both “young” players as they were certified by the Public Utility of Texas within the last 2 years (Sources: PUCT website BRANCH ENERGY and ENERGY TEXAS.) In the 100% green, variable rate category, the number of players did not vary but we captured that CHARIOT ENERGY is no longer showing offers in November for this plan category while ENERGY TEXAS started to offer plans on the website the same month.

Looking at the trend for the 12-month fixed price product, the average rate decreased by 1% and the lowest rate also decreased by 4%. This cannot only be explained by BRANCH ENERGY entering the market with a low price but also by some players decreasing their rates in November. A decreasing trend is also observed in the lowest and average rates for the 100% green variable rate product.

The tables above list the lowest price in cents/kWh offered by each retail electricity provider (REP) for a given type of plan for a monthly usage of 1000 kWh. If more than one product was available from the same REP for a given type of plan, EnergySavings.com only included the one with the lowest rate in its analysis. Please note that as products and rates may change at any time in the day on Power to Choose; EnergySavings.com’s analysis is based on information captured in its single daily snapshot, and therefore cannot guarantee that every product and rate made available in the month has been captured. Please reach out to [email protected] if you feel that any meaningful data has not been captured and EnergySavings.com may, at its sole discretion, issue a correction to the report. The analysis is performed by excluding plans that are marked as “Minimum usage fees/credits”, “Time of Use”, and “Prepaid” according to the data captured from Power to Choose. For more information about the electricity plans mentioned in this report, please consult both the Electricity Fact Label (EFL) and Terms of Service (TOS) for those plans. Those documents are available on the Power to Choose site if the plan is still currently offered. The rates listed may differ if the REP has changed its pricing.
