Data collected* are analyzed monthly to give you an understanding of the offers available and the market trends. Grouping the most common plans by category, we analyze the same plan categories every month to give you an apples-to-apples comparison.

Regarding the number of providers, the exact same players were offering plans in August and September in those two categories of electricity plans.
In the 12mo fixed rate plan category, we captured a substantial increase of the highest rate (21 %) explained by AMBIT ENERGY increasing its rate in September (from 14 to 17 cents/kWh for 1000 kWh.)
Regarding the variable rate category, although some providers did not change their rates, we observed a global increase between those two months: +16% for the lowest rate, +8% for the highest and +6% for the average.

CHARIOT ENERGY is back on the Power to Choose website! We observed that this provider stopped showing offers towards the end of February. CHARIOT ENERGY is now offering 3 different 100% green plans from 12 to 36 month terms. Unfortunately, we also captured that two players left the game in September: PULSE POWER LLC and ENERGY TO GO. This explains why there is a 10% decrease in the first category of the table above. The second category was stable regarding number of providers.
Looking at the price variations, although the lowest rate did not change, the first category showed increases: +14% for the highest rate and 3% for the average.
Regarding the variable rate category, there were small increases in price between August and September: +8% for the highest rate and +5% for the average, but the lowest rate was stable.

THINK ENERGY offered the lowest rate while AMBIT ENERGY offered the highest in this category in September. 72% of REPs from this table changed their price. We can draw a common trend as all of them increased their price toward the second half of the month of September.

In this category of plans, we captured 7 providers changing their rates within the month. Among them, 5 increased it and 2 decreased it. AMBIT ENERGY offered the highest rate while SOUTHERN FEDERAL POWER offered the lowest one.

GEXA ENERGY offered the lowest price in September while CHARIOT ENERGY offered the highest price. Seven of them, 78%, changed their price during September but only one decreased it: GREEN MOUNTAIN ENERGY COMPANY.

As we see pretty much every month in this category, INFUSE ENERGY LLC had the lowest rate of this category. They are also the only REP that increased their electricity price during the month.
