In the AEP North delivery area, ELIGO ENERGY TEXAS LLC, FIRST CHOICE POWER, V247 POWER CORPORATION and WTU RETAIL ENERGY are the 4 electricity providers in this deregulated area that were no longer showing offers on the Power to Choose website in October. PESO POWER also stopped showing a 12-month fixed rate plan but is still on the Power to Choose website as they are showing other kinds of plans. On the other hand, TRUE POWER joined the party this month. This provider was certified recently this year by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and just started to show offers on the Power to Choose website. Looking at the trends, the average pricing for the first category increased when comparing October to September: +6% for the average. This was caused by a few providers raising up their prices. We also captured increases for the variable rate category: the lowest rate increased by 9% and the average rate by 5% due to more than half of providers increasing their rates in October.

First, let’s compare the number of providers showing offers. As we see in all the other delivery areas this month, AMPRA ENERGY did not show in the 100% green fixed rate, 12-month plans category in October. They were offering other kinds of plans, following the same strategy as their affiliate, PESO POWER, mentioned in the non-green category above. In the 100% green variable rate category, CHARIOT ENERGY is also here entering the game with a new plan. Then, looking at trends (September vs. October), we captured variation in this delivery area for the 100% green 12-month fixed rate plans as well as for the variable rate plan category. For the first one, +9% for the lowest, -4% for the highest (CHARIOT ENERGY decreased their price,) and +4% for the average. Regarding the second category, the lowest rate decreased by 2% explained by INFUSE ENERGY LLC decreasing their rate in October.

* Data obtained from powertochoose.org (Power to Choose) for the days from 10/1/2021 to 10/31/2021. The tables above list the lowest price in cents/kWh offered by each retail electricity provider (REP) for a given type of plan for a monthly usage of 1000 kWh. If more than one product was available from the same REP for a given type of plan, EnergySavings.com only included the one with the lowest rate in its analysis. Please note that as products and rates may change at any time in the day on Power to Choose; EnergySavings.com’s analysis is based on information captured in its single daily snapshot, and therefore cannot guarantee that every product and rate made available in the month has been captured. Please reach out to [email protected] if you feel that any meaningful data has not been captured and EnergySavings.com may, at its sole discretion, issue a correction to the report. The analysis is performed by excluding plans that are marked as “Minimum usage fees/credits”, “Time of Use”, and “Prepaid” according to the data captured from Power to Choose. For more information about the electricity plans mentioned in this report, please consult both the Electricity Fact Label (EFL) and Terms of Service (TOS) for those plans. Those documents are available on the Power to Choose site if the plan is still currently offered. The rates listed may differ if the REP has changed its pricing.
