New this month! Our team is providing a “TOP 3 Providers” analysis based on the data we collected since the beginning of the year. Let’s see which REPs are ranking first in each category of plans.
Our team at EnergySavings.com has been capturing daily snapshots of electricity plans from the Power to Choose website. Data collected* are analyzed monthly to give you an understanding of the offers available and the market trends. Grouping the most common plans by category, we analyze the same plan categories every month to give you an apples-to-apples comparison.

This table compares the lowest price offered by each REP that offered the respective type of plan in each month. The “Highest” row above shows the highest price among all the lowest price plans offered by REPs offering that type of plan in this region for each month.
The non-green category is impacted this month by a loss of energy providers in two categories of plans. For the fixed rate category, AP GAS & ELECTRIC (TX) LLC is no longer offering plans on the Power to Choose website since the beginning of June. Regarding the variable rate category, DIRECT ENERGY and FIRST CHOICE POWER are not providing variable rate plans but are both still showing other kinds of products.
In this delivery area, we didn’t notice any dramatic change in prices. We only see in the table above, a small increase (3% and 6%) in the lowest rate and in the average rate for fixed rate plans and a 10% increase in the average rate for the variable rate plans, although the lowest and the highest price were stable in this category.

The 100% green category went through some variations in July 2021.
First of all, the number of players in the fixed rate plan category decreased by 18% as AP GAS & ELECTRIC (TX) LLC and TXU ENERGY are no longer showing offers in this category. As mentioned earlier in this article, this first energy provider is not offering plans at all while the second energy provider is still showing offers but not in the 100 % green category. Secondly, let’s have a look at the trends between these two months. The average rates did not vary a lot (+1% for the fixed rate category and +7% for the variable rate one). However, we captured some variations within these two 100% green categories. The lowest rates increased by 7 % and 27%. This is explained by the two energy providers (GEXA ENERGY and INFUSE ENERGY LLC) increasing their prices in each category. In the contrary, the fixed rate’s highest rate decreased by 13%, explained by TXU ENERGY no longer showing 100% green offers anymore.

The tables above list the lowest price in cents/kWh offered by each retail electricity provider (REP) for a given type of plan for a monthly usage of 1000 kWh. If more than one product was available from the same REP for a given type of plan, EnergySavings.com only included the one with the lowest rate in its analysis. Please note that as products and rates may change at any time in the day on Power to Choose; EnergySavings.com’s analysis is based on information captured in its single daily snapshot, and therefore cannot guarantee that every product and rate made available in the month has been captured. Please reach out to [email protected] if you feel that any meaningful data has not been captured and EnergySavings.com may, at its sole discretion, issue a correction to the report. The analysis is performed by excluding plans that are marked as “Minimum usage fees/credits”, “Time of Use”, and “Prepaid” according to the data captured from Power to Choose. For more information about the electricity plans mentioned in this report, please consult both the Electricity Fact Label (EFL) and Terms of Service (TOS) for those plans. Those documents are available on the Power to Choose site if the plan is still currently offered. The rates listed may differ if the REP has changed its pricing.
