In the TNMP Delivery Area, the number of providers changed in October. Two providers were no longer offering 12 months fixed-rate products in October: PESO POWER and FIRST CHOICE POWER. The first one only showed a 9-month plan in October, while the second one was no longer offering plans at all in October 2021. TRUE POWER started offering a 12-month fixed price plan in October. In the 12 month fixed-rate plan category, although the lowest and highest prices were the same compared to September, the average rate increased by 9% because various providers increased their prices in October versus September. Regarding the variable rate category, the lowest rate increased by 16% because SOUTHERN FEDERAL POWER LLC increased its rates. Just as PESO POWER only offered 9-month plans in the non-green category above, we captured that AMPRA ENERGY was following the same strategy for the 100% green product. This makes sense; these two providers are affiliated companies (source: PUCT certification). This explains the -11% in the number of Retail Energy Providers (REPs). Looking at the price variations in the first category of plans, the lowest rate increased by 15%. At the opposite end, the highest rate decreased by 8%. Finally, the average one increased by 8%.  In the second category of plans, the average rate and the lowest rate also increased, by 3% and 7% respectively, while the highest rate was stable. CHARIOT ENERGY introduced a 100% green variable rate plan in October.

*Data obtained from powertochoose.org (Power to Choose) for the days from 10/1/2021 to 10/31/2021. The tables above list the lowest price in cents/kWh offered by each retail electricity provider (REP) for a given type of plan for a monthly usage of 1000 kWh. If more than one product was available from the same REP for a given type of plan, EnergySavings.com only included the one with the lowest rate in its analysis. Please note that as products and rates may change at any time in the day on Power to Choose; EnergySavings.com’s analysis is based on information captured in its single daily snapshot, and therefore cannot guarantee that every product and rate made available in the month has been captured. Please reach out to [email protected] if you feel that any meaningful data has not been captured and EnergySavings.com may, at its sole discretion, issue a correction to the report. The analysis is performed by excluding plans that are marked as “Minimum usage fees/credits”, “Time of Use”, and “Prepaid” according to the data captured from Power to Choose. For more information about the electricity plans mentioned in this report, please consult both the Electricity Fact Label (EFL) and Terms of Service (TOS) for those plans. Those documents are available on the Power to Choose site if the plan is still currently offered. The rates listed may differ if the REP has changed its pricing.
